On 21 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and H.E. Mr. José Manuel Albares Bueno, Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic School (Escuela Diplomática) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain. The MOU aims to promote cooperation in the training and development of diplomatic personnel and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between relevant agencies of the two countries. It also marks another important milestone in strengthening relations and cooperation between Thailand and Spain.

               The signing ceremony took place during the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs’ official visit to Spain from 21 - 22 October 2026. During the visit, he also attended the 8th Thailand - Spain Political Consultations and delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 4th Spain - Thailand Forum in Madrid.
