          Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), attended the Exchange Programme for the Faculties of the Foreign Service Academies of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Member States in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The meeting was hosted by the Foreign Service Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and was attended by the heads and representatives of the Foreign Service Academies/ Foreign Service Institutes and the diplomatic training units from seven Member States - Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Bhutan, and Nepal.

          Throughout the meeting, the Director actively engaged in academic activities consisting of (1) the presentation on the DVIFA’s diplomatic training and modules and (2) discussions with the representatives from the Member States on the training of future diplomats as well as the ways and means to enhance collaboration among the FSA/FSI of BIMSTEC. The participants also explored ways to foster BIMSTEC process through the collaboration of BIMSTEC’s FSA/FSI. In Addition, the delegations paid a courtesy calls on H.E. Mr. Masud Bin Momen, Foreign Secretary (Senior Secretary) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, and visited the BIMSTEC Secretariat.

          The Exchange Programme for the Faculties of the Foreign Service Academies of the BIMSTEC Member States is the first activity implemented under the Memorandum of Understanding between the FSA/FSI of BIMSTEC Member States, signed at the 5th BIMSTEC Summit in Sri Lanka in 2022.
