On 24 September 2026, Mr. Chuchart Jirojkul, Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), welcomed Hon. Neil Frank R. Ferrer, Director General of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, together with the Director and research specialists from the Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies.

                During the meeting, both sides exchanged information and views on the organizational structure and mandate of their respective institutes, current approaches and challenges in diplomatic training, as well as cooperation between the DVIFA and the FSI and among diplomatic training institutions of ASEAN Member States. Both sides agreed that such cooperation contributes towards enhanced capacity building for Thai, Filipino, and other ASEAN diplomats with the shared objective to stay ahead of the curve in the continuously evolving global landscape. The two sides also exchanged views on consultations with advisory boards with regard to curriculum development and modernization, the integration of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) into training programmes, knowledge-sharing activities within their respective foreign ministries, and cooperation with diplomatic training institutions outside ASEAN, with a view to learning from each other’s best practices.

                On this occasion, the Director of DVIFA expressed his appreciation to the FSI for hosting the 3rd Retreat of ASEAN Diplomatic Academies and Institutes (RADA) in Manila during 2 - 3 September 2026 and accompanied the FSI delegation on a tour of DVIFA. The delegation’s visit to Thailand formed part of their series of visits to diplomatic training institutions in ASEAN Member States during the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship this year.
