The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs gives priority to promoting the exchange of knowledge among foreign service personnel by strengthening ties and developing linkages with counterpart institutions and other relevant partners in other countries through three mechanisms:

          (1) memorandum of understanding (MoU) on diplomatic training with foreign diplomatic academies

          (2) short term training programmes

          (3) participation in international meetings

1. The memorandum of understanding on diplomatic training with foreign diplomatic academies and other academic institutes.

          The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs has signed MoUs with 10 academies and institutes, namely:

          (1) Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of the Republic of Turkey

          (2) Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic

          (3) Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo

          (4) China Institute of International Studies, the People’s Republic of China

          (5) Hennadi Udovenko Diplomatic of Ukraine at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

          (6) Foreign Service Institute, the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India

          (7) Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democtatic Republic

          (8) National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia

          (9) MOU on Mutual Cooperation in the Field of Diplomatic Training between Diplomatic Academies/Training Institutions of BIMSTEC Member States

          (10) MOU on Cooperation between the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary

          (11) MOU Betweem the Devawonges Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and The Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training and Research Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia

           In addition, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs is in the process of finalizing MoUs with some other institutes, with a special focus on 3 areas, namely: 1) training and development of human resources, 2) exchange of knowledge and information, and 3) networking in terms of personnel and knowledge.

2. Short Term Training

          Short term training is another mechanism for the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs to cooperate with foreign countries. Over the years, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs has sent diplomats to participate in regular training programmes such as: the International Graduate Programme (IGP) in Australia, the Executive Seminar for Young Diplomats and Officials from the ASEAN Member States in Germany, and the 1^st Special Course for Diplomats from BIMSTEC Countries in India.

           To share and contribute its knowledge, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs has, on a regular basis, offered fellowships to foreign diplomats from ASEAN countries, Africa, Latin America and Asia - Pacific to participate in 2 training programmes, namely, Knowledge of Diplomacy (KoD) and Diplomatic Training in International Affairs. 

3. Participation in International Meetings

          The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs regularly joins international forums, such as the Annual Meeting of Deans and Directors of Diplomatic Academies and Institutes of International Relations (IFDT), and the Annual Meeting of Deans and Directors of Diplomatic Academies from ASEAN + 3 countries. Diplomacy 4.0, diplomacy in an era of discontinuity and disruption, diplomatic training on the content and implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, diplomacy in the Asian century have been some of the key issues discussed.

           In 2023, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to host the 49^th Annual Meeting of Deans and Directors of Diplomatic Academies and Institutes of International Relations (IFDT).
