From 25 - 29 November 2019, as part of the Oral Communication Course (OCC),DVIFA staff took the 23 OCC participants to attend the 2nd phase of the program, a five - day workshop in Singapore at SEAMEO Regional Language Centre (RELC) on the topic of “Sustainable Development Goals: Clean Water and Sanitation in Asia”. The aims of the workshop were to put the participants into simulated international meetings utilizing the skills they learned during the 1st phase at DVIFA while learning additional presentation and meeting skills to better operate in international meeting environments.
During the workshop, participants took on roles of delegates representing various countries in Asia and were required to present the current water and sanitation situations in their respective country, its challenges, and policymakers. They then participated in a simulated meeting designed to seek regional cooperation by suggesting a framework of recommendations to improve water issues and sanitation in Asia. The participants also visited Marina Barrage and the Bicentennial Experience which commemorates the 200th anniversary of Raffles' landing in Singapore.
