The 1^st Training Course to Prepare Secretaries, Counsellors and their Spouses for Overseas Postings for the Year 2020

          On 20 April 2020, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs launched an online training course for secretaries, counsellors and their spouses to prepare them for their overseas postings. The course, which runs from 20 April to 22 June 2020, has a total 36 participants comprising government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

          The objectives of the course are: to equip the participants with diplomatic knowledge; and to enhance their skills so they are able to perform their duties effectively and efficiently as representatives of Thailand.  These will be achieved through the exploration of topics such as: Thailand's foreign strategy, Thailand’s relations with its neighbors as well as rules and regulations on fiscal and budgetary affairs.

          Ms. Lada Phumas, the Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of the training course. Mr. Soonthorn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the audience and gave a lecture covering various issues, such as the role of being a Thai representative abroad, Thailand Team’s missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ expectations.

          The Devawongse Varopalarn Institute of Foreign Affairs organized the training in line with the Office of the Prime Minister’s Regulations on Overseas Assignment of Government Officials and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Requirements on Criteria, Methods and Training Courses for Civil Servants and Their Spouses.
