On 8 June 2020, Ms. Lada Phumas, Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand joined an online meeting of the International Forum on Diplomatic Training (IFDT) Steering Committee together with executives from diplomatic training academies and institutes in Austria, USA, the UAE and India as well as representatives of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), DiploFoundation and Centre for Political and Diplomatic Studies (CPDS). The purpose of the meeting was to officially reschedule the IFDT meetings for the years 2021 - 2024. These meetings will be hosted by the Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA) of the UAE, Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service SSIFS) of India, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) in Thailand, and the Diplomatic Academy of Montenegro respectively. The Committee also discussed the possibility of holding one - day IFDT online meeting during September - November 2020, inviting members of the IFDT to participate and share their experiences and best practices of diplomatic online training under the global situation of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
