On 18 January 2017, Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs hosted a roundtable discussion with Professor David Shambaugh on “China’s Internal Situation and Its External Policy in Asia”. Professor David Shambaugh lectures at the Elliot School of International Affairs, George Washington University, and is an internationally-recognized China expert. The roundtable discussion was well attended by 35 Thai high-level specialists on China and related fields.

The roundtable’s objective is for the participants to exchange ideas, perspectives, and experiences regarding the domestic situation in China and its foreign policy in Asia. The discussion was beneficial to the planning of Thailand’s foreign policy directions with China as well as the Asian region.
