During 11 - 14 November 2025, Mr. Chuchart Jirojkul, Minister-Counsellor and Representative of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), attended the 51st Annual Meeting of Deans and Directors of Diplomatic Academies and Institutes of International Relations in Urubamba, Cusco, Peru, which was hosted by the Diplomatic Academy “Javier Pérez de Cuéllar” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. The meeting welcomed 77 executives and representatives from 52 diplomatic academies and international relations institutes from 43 countries.
Participants exchanged information and experiences under the main theme “Navigating Change in a Complex World: Innovation in Diplomatic Training.” They also exchanged views on the topic of the Keynote Speech for the Forum on “The Human Dimension of Diplomatic Training: Building Resilience, Empathy, and Emotional Intelligence.” The Forum was divided into two panel discussions under the following headings: (1) What do 21st-Century Diplomats Need to Know? Rethinking Diplomatic Education; and (2) Beyond the Classroom: The Expanding Role of Diplomatic Training Institutions. In addition, there were two workshops on (1) Designing 21st-Century Diplomatic Curricula - Skills, Substance, and Strategic Linkages; and (2) Rethinking Recruitment - Attracting New Generations to Public Service and Diplomacy.
On this occasion, the DVIFA representative exchanged views on diplomatic training with participants from various academies to explore ways to adapt and apply best practices for the development of Thai personnel. This included discussions with diplomatic academies from Peru, Austria, Bangladesh, Singapore, and the Republic of Korea, as well as academic training institutes such as the Clingendael Academy (The Netherlands) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
