Special briefing on “Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the path to a career as a Diplomat” for students from Pridi Banomyong International College, Thammasat University

               On June 14, 2024, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Personnel Management Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Asst. Prof. Chaiyaporn Phayakhrut, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and a group of students from Pridi Banomyong International College, Thammasat University, for a special lecture on "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Path to a Career in Diplomacy" at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

               The briefing on the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was presented by Ms. Thanwadee Cheevacharoenchai, Counsellor; Ms. Parada Nakraktham, Human Resources Specialist; and Mr. Kittiphop Boontarawa, Third Secretary from the Personnel Management Bureau. Furthermore, additional issues regarding the functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and shared experiences as a diplomat at the Royal Thai Embassy and Royal Thai Consulate-General were covered. The latter part of the briefing provided guidelines on disseminating knowledge of diplomacy and foreign affairs in preparation for becoming a diplomat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

               The audience showed their interest in the topic and followed up with questions about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' duties, especially its diplomatic functions and the skills needed for becoming a diplomat. The students thanked the lecturers and expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for arranging this event, which provided an opportunity to build knowledge and understanding of the function and structure of the Ministry, as well as to inspire students in the career path of becoming a diplomat.
