Study Visit to Thailand of Thai Language Course Participants from National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia

               Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) and the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, with the support of Thailand Foundation, organized a study visit to Thailand for Thai language course participants from National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia from 12 to 15 March 2024. Led by H.E. Mr. Cheuy Vichet, President of NIDIR, the Cambodian delegation comprised officials who study Thai language and officials from NIDIR, totaling 13 participants.

               In her welcoming remarks, Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of DVIFA, highlighted the importance of this visit which lied within the framework of the MOU on Cooperation between DVIFA and NIDIR, signed in 2021. The visit provided the Cambodian participants with a good opportunity to learn more about Thailand, gain first-hand experience in Thai culture and directly interact with a local community in Thailand.

               Activities during the visit included lectures on “Relationship between Culture and Language Usage” and “Thailand - Cambodia Bilateral Relations” as well as study visits and workshops in Bangkok and Samut Songkram Province about (1) Thai culture, arts and ways of life at Chaipattananurak Conservation Project, Pinsuwan Benjarong, Baan Rimklong Homestay and King Rama II Commemorate Park (2) Thai private sector at Siam Cement Group (SCG) (3) Thailand’s start-up at Distar Fresh Farm and (4) Thai civil society sector at Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD).
