On 16 May 2025, Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), International Study Center (ISC), Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies (PSAFIDS), and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia co-organized “Thailand-Saudi Arabia Academic Dialogue” in Bangkok. On this occasion, Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of DVIFA delivered welcoming remarks to participants of the event. During the opening session, H.E. Dr. Mushabab Al Qahtani, Director-General of Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies (PSAFIDS), H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Al Suhaibani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Thailand, and Ms. Mathurawee Wisuthakul, Deputy Director-General, Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, jointly delivered opening remarks to launch the event.

               This Dialogue was held for the first time as part of the Initiative Card between DVIFA and PSAFIDS under the Political and Consular Committee of the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council or STCC, co-chaired by Foreign Ministers of Thailand and Saudi Arabia. It comprised academic discussion on bilateral relations between Thailand and Saudi Arabia along with regional and global issues of mutual interest. Experts from both sides actively exchanged views and information throughout the event. It was carried out in a friendly and candid atmosphere.

               After the closing session of the Dialogue, the Saudi delegates also visited DVIFA and ISC to further exchange views and information on diplomatic training and human resource development. Earlier this year, DVIFA and PSAFIDS signed “Cooperation Program” on 16 January 2025 as a framework to strengthen their cooperation after the conclusion of the 1st STCC Meeting hosted by the Thai side at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
