One of the missions of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) is to continuously enhance the English and foreign language skills of officials across all levels and career streams within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Recognising the vital role of home-based officials in supporting the Ministry’s core missions, the DVIFA organises the English Programme for Home-based Staff annually. The programme aims to strengthen participants’ ability to use English for professional communication with greater confidence and effectiveness.

On 22 April 2025, Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony of the English Programme for Home-based Staff 2025. In her opening remarks, Director Chirasawadi emphasised the importance of continuous learning and enhancement of English language skills, not only for professional purposes but also for personal development, both of which can be of benefit to the Ministry.

This year’s programme welcomes 15 participants from 7 departments from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The programme runs from 22 April to 26 June 2025, with classes held every Tuesday and Thursday. In addition, an English Workshop will be organised at the DVIFA to enhance practical skills through simulated real-world situations and to encourage full engagement by the participants.

Throughout the course, participants will engage in a variety of activities such as delivering presentations, practising real-life conversations, and working collaboratively in groups. All activities are designed to boost their confidence in using English and to strengthen their linguistic and professional skills.
