On 27 July 2023, Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) gave the closing remarks at the closing ceremony of the training course, the 2023 Knowledge of Diplomacy for Diplomats from Diplomatic Missions in Thailand.
This course had been organised by the DVIFA during 5-27 July 2023 under the theme “Innovation and Sustainability” and participated by 23 foreign and Thai diplomats. The objective of the course has two folds. Firstly, the course aims to introduce the participants to Thailand’s foreign policy, especially in the dimensions of regional cooperation and sustainability; as well as the experience of government and private sectors in applying innovation to sustainability promotion.
Throughout the course, the participants were given lectures by experts on the relevant topics, including Thai diplomacy, Development Diplomacy, Thailand’s role in ASEAN and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model, and Thailand’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The participants also visited leading public and private agencies in innovation and sustainability, such as Rice Science Center, Food Innopolis, Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Automation Park and Thailand Genome Sequencing Center situated in Eastern Economic Corridor, Energy Absolute, Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and SCG Digital Innovation Garage.
