During 28 - 31 August 2023, Ms. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), paid a visit to the Republic of Türkiye and led the DVIFA delegation to enhance cooperation on academic exchanges and diplomatic trainings with relevant Turkish agencies.

               During the visit, the Director held a meeting with Mr. Ozgur Gokmen, Acting Director-General of the Diplomacy Academy, and Mr. Serhad Varli, Head of Department, Center for Strategic Research (SAM), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye. The meeting was also joined by His Excellency Mr. Apirat Sugondhabhirom, the Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Türkiye. Both sides agreed to further explore the possibilities to exchange knowledge and foster cooperation through joint activities such as the training of newly recruited diplomats, Turkish language training, and organization of academic seminars on topics of mutual interest. In addition, the Director also met with Ms. Ceren Erdal, Department Head of Corporate Relations and Communications of YTB (Türkiye Scholarship Burslari) to exchange information on research as well as short and long terms scholarship programs offered by the Turkish government.

               On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara also organized a network meeting between the DVIFA delegates and represenativs from numerous well-known universities and academicians of Türkiye in both Ankara and Istanbul to enhance collaboration. The delegates also took part in the book launching event of “The Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Siam Through the Ages,” the 2nd Edition, at Istanbul Medeniyet University, which was part of the Royal Thai Embassy’s project to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of the Eastablishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Republic of Türkiye.

               The Diplomacy Academy of the Republic of Türkiye is the first diplomatic institute to establish a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation with DVIFA, which was signed on 5 July 2013.
