On 25 March 2021, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) observed Thai Festival Workshop and presided over the closing ceremony of the Overseas Posting English Programme at Training Room 2.
The Overseas Posting English Programme aims to develop English language knowledge and skills of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ support staff. The Programme focuses on enhancing the four communicative skills namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing in simulated overseas-posting duties such as giving information about Thailand, contacting banks, and working with local staffs and in daily-life situations. The programme consists of four different forms of instruction namely 1) In-class lesson 2) On-line lesson 3) Interactive & Creative Workshop and 4) Cultural activities; Christmas Activities and Thai Festival Workshop.
The Thai Festival Workshop took place during the final period of the programme. The workshop allows the participants to practice using their knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course in a simulated situation of organising the Thai festival in a foreign country. The participants video-recorded their introduction and demonstration of Thai culture and tradition and participated the Interactive Quiz Show.
During the closing ceremony, the Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) gave a closing speech emphasizing that the participants should be perceptive about the use of English in their jobs and daily lives and should keep on improving their English in order to perform better on their duties given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
