The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), in cooperation with the Japan Foundation (JF), Bangkok, an organisation dedicated to cultural exchange and the promotion of Japanese language learning, jointly ran the 2026 Japanese Language Training Course for Beginners. The course aimed to develop Japanese language skills and promote greater understanding of the Japanese language and culture among officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

                Cooperation between the DVIFA and the JF first started in 2017 and has continued regularly since then, reflecting the shared commitment of both organisations. It serves as an important foundation for strengthening relations between Thailand and Japan through education and cultural exchange.

                The course was held on-site every Saturday from 13 June to 15 August 2026. It focused on developing basic Japanese communication skills that could be applied both in the workplace and in everyday life. A total of 10 officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 7 officials from the Ministry of Education participated in the course, which provided opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and experience among government personnel from different agencies.

                The Japan Foundation designed the course in accordance with Japanese language teaching and learning standards, with an emphasis on developing communication skills alongside an understanding of Japanese social and cultural traditions. Participants practised communication in a variety of situations and learned about Japanese customs and culture through a range of activities, including Japanese character writing and traditional tea ceremonies.

                The training programme hilights the continued cooperation between the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Japan Foundation, Bangkok, for developing the language capabilities of Ministry of Foreign Affairs personnel while at the same time promoting mutual understanding between Thailand and Japan.
