The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) has consistently evolved the English Programme for Home-Based Staff to match the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ training needs. This programme is designed to improve the English language skills, knowledge, and abilities of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ home-based staff, empowering them to communicate more confidently in English and perform their roles more effectively.

This year, the program ran from 18 April to 25 July 2024, with 13 participants from 9 departments within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attending the programme. The programme included classroom training at DVIFA, a study visit to a government organization, and a 3-day English camp in Nakhon Ratchasima, where participants had the opportunity to practice using English through various activities.

On 25 July 2024, Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of DVIFA, presided over the closing ceremony of the English Programme for Home-Based Staff 2024. She complimented all participants for their hard work and determination while engaging in the learning activities throughout the programme. Mrs. Chirasawadi also emphasized the vital role of the ministry’s home-based staff in supporting and promoting the ministry’s mission. The experiences gained from this training programme are constructed to inspire and encourage participants to use English as a tool for professional development and information exploration within their respective roles and in their daily lives. She expressed her hope that the participants would continue to improve their English skills, emphasizing the importance of ongoing development in this area. Finally, Mrs. Chirasawadi closed by saying that these nearly four months have helped shape friendships and collaborations between members of various departments, which will also help future collaborations between departments within the ministry.
