During 22, and 25 – 26 August 2025, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), in collaboration with the Centre for Political & Diplomatic Studies (CPDS), organized a diplomatic training course on “Strategic Foresight, Analytical Thinking and International Negotiation Skills.” The course was conducted by Dr. Ruth Adler GAICD, Director of CPDS Asia-Pacific and a former Australian Ambassador, and Professor Richard Rowe PSM, also a former Australian Ambassador. It was well attended by diplomats at professional level upwards from different departments.
The three-day course emphasized the exchange of perspectives and the application of knowledge on diplomacy and foreign affairs through numerous activities, including seminars and simulation exercises in various situations. This included group activities on policy-making in foreign affairs, identification of trends and drivers of change, tactical adaptations to different scenarios, and the formulation of strategic options for national positioning and international negotiations. Course participants were actively engaged in all activities, exchanges, and joint learning.
The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs attaches high importance to the continuous improvement of training courses and human resource development through our collaboration with institutes on diplomacy and educational institutions, both in Thailand and abroad, to enhance the potential of our officials and to promote a comprehensive worldview.
