The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA), in cooperation with the Bureau of Personnel Competency Development (BPCD), organized an English Training Programme for Vocational Teachers in the EEC. The course ran from 20 August - 17 September 2022 (every Saturday) with 15 participants from four institutes, namely; Chonburi Vocational College, Chonburi Technical College, Chachoensao Vocational College and Phanomsarakham Technical College.

This project was initiated when DVIFA joined the Committee of the Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) - Promotion Consortium for personnel in the EEC, which is organized by the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO). DVIFA has recognized the importance of participation in upgrading and enhancing the teaching of English to government officials, in order to help to create professional skilled workers in important industries; thereby, increasing the country’s competitiveness, especially in targeted areas such as the EEC.

On Saturday 20 August 2022, Ms. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, the Director of the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, assigned Dr. Narat Vidyananda, Minister Counsellor, to preside over the opening ceremony of the English Training Programme for Vocational Teachers in the EEC. Dr. Narat delivered his welcoming remarks to the participants. In them, he encouraged participants to embrace the benefits of learning and practicing throughout the training course. Additionally, he emphasized that the participants should implement the techniques and knowledge gained to improve efficiency in their work. In addition, this valuable asset should also be transferred to students as well as colleagues who may not have the opportunity to participate in the course, in order to further develop skills and maximise the benefits for agencies and for our country.

Then Dr. Surapong Ermuthai, the Director of the Bureau of Personnel Competency Development (BPCD), delivered a thank you speech to DVIFA for their collaboration and partnership in organizing this training project. Dr. Surapong also delivered his talk on BPCD’s policy of personnel development of enhanced competencies.
