The Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) is pleased to announce the launch of the Oral Communication Course (OCC) 2024. This initiative is part of DVIFA’s ongoing collaboration with various government agencies, including state enterprises, aimed at enhancing foreign language and communication skills among government and state enterprise officials. DVIFA places a strong emphasis on personnel development through continuous English language training programs, ensuring that officials are well-equipped to handle tasks related to foreign affairs missions effectively.

The OCC has been specifically designed to leverage the communicative English skills of government officials. The course focuses on enhancing their abilities in public speaking, delivering presentations, and effectively expressing opinions in meetings, thereby enabling them to perform their duties with greater confidence and competence.

This year, 23 government officials at the professional level and above, representing 15 government agencies and state enterprises, are attending the course. The four-week course will run from 9 May to 7 June 2024, every weekday, at DVIFA, culminating in a study visit and OCC Workshop in Nakhon Pathom during the final week.

On 9 May 2024, Dr. Narat Vidyananda, Minister Counsellor, represented the Director of DVIFA to preside over the opening ceremony of the OCC 2024. In his opening remarks, he welcomed all participants and talked about how this four-week course would boost their confidence and enhance their ability to communicate in English more effectively, which is essential for performing their duties. The course emphasizes active learning through hands-on experience, both inside and outside of the classroom, to ensure participants understand and apply the knowledge and skills gained. Additionally, their diverse work experiences and backgrounds will facilitate knowledge exchange and foster greater networking opportunities.
